Happy, happy, happy dance!
I have finally finished Mirabilia's Titania. I started her on February 9, 2003 and finished all but the beading over a year ago! Talk about procrastination. So, with no further ado, I present my first finish of 2006...

Isn't she lovely?

Lost in Avalon

Details

I'm stitching this on Weddington even weave which I got from Lekker Threads. So far I like the fabric. It seems to have the things I like about Lugana and Jobelan without the drawbacks I've found in each. And even with shipping from England, the price is comparable. I've placed a couple of orders and I've always received my items very quickly. Except the one time an order got lost -- and that was promptly and courteously replaced. I've been very happy with the service and the Weddington linen I've also ordered is lovely.

I stitched a bit longer on this than dictated by my rotation. I wanted to see some detail and so I also deviated from my normal stitching pattern of left to right in 10 by 10 blocks. I made pretty good progress though, almost 4000 stitches in just 6 days.

I think I may have messed up one of the branches on this. It really doesn't look so much like it should. I've double checked my colors, and I've got the right ones and I don't think I misplaced any stitches, so I'm just not going to worry about it. Besides, it's only noticeable whey compared to the original and since I don't intend to hang the stitched piece next to the original I guess it doesn't matter anyway. And that's only assuming I ever actually finish it!

Finally...
I've uploaded my web page with WIP pics.

Witness the Obsession

Right now only the first two WIP pages are complete. Since I really don't know what I'm doing until I do it, I lost all the backgrounds and links and got tired of going through and fixing them. I plan to add WIPs as I work on them -- so it'll be a year or more before they are all on there!!

And They Sinned

I've forgotten how much fun this is to stitch! The colors are just lovely. My placement is a bit off, but since I'm aware of it I think I'll be able to get everything to line up okay by the time I get to the end of the first page.

My children are tormenting me

My two older kids think it is hilariously funny to touch my stitching. You can just see my daughter on the left forcing the poor stuffed animal into heinous acts. And there is my son sitting in my stitching chair. Earlier he was touching it with his toes! Fortunately they usually leave my stitching alone, but they have friends over and I think they are trying to demonstrate how seriously unbalanced their mother is.

Empath Quiz
You scored as Judge. You are a Judge Empath, one who is a "truthsayer". You can tell truth from lies, good from evil. You do not tolerate wrong doing. You are a defender of the good and the innocent. You are kind and merciful but do not play foolish games. (from "The Book of Storms" by Jad Alexander)

What Kind of Empath are You?

I can agree with this. I've lately found that I can sense if a person is "not nice" just by looking at them. I get very upset over what I consider to be injustice and I strive to be an honest person.

The ironic thing is I was married for 17 years to a very bad person. I can look at him now and clearly see the evil in his face. It was there all along and I just didn't understand what I was seeing (or didn't want to understand).

Not Cross Stitch, but a finish of sorts
After my run in with the nasty mortgage "recovery counselor" yesterday, I didn't feel like doing much of anything except cry and feel sorry for myself so I looked for layouts and graphics for my much ignored blog. Today I put them all together. I started around 7 am and just finished up. Not too bad considering I've been teaching myself as I go along! I still need to gather up some links, blinkies, etc, and decide whether or not to list my 70 or so (gulp!) WIPs.

So I got no stitching done this weekend. I'm trying to get back into a rotation (after being thrown waaaaaaay off track last September when I discovered HAED) and was supposed to work on St. George and the Dragon by Character Creations. And I can't seem to get motived to get it out.
